Therapeutic Power of Baking

There's something utterly therapeutic in the process of baking. That magic of properly measuring out each ingredient, the science of adding each element at the right time and pace, the amount of focus, attention and care that goes into each step.
I shot this photo story of Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes to help me get out of my creative rut. The idea came to me when I sat down to reflect on what I can do to help my mind relax. I started thinking of all the things I love about food and the reasons I got into food photography years back. I thought about the texture of food, the soothing power of mixing ingredients together, the magic of watching your creation come to life in front of your eyes. And just like that - I felt that exciting spark of inspiration hit me!
I took careful notes and decided to capture the beauty of this process. I mindfully selected the light colours - as a symbol of how joyful baking feels to me. I took the time to capture those moments that really make my heart skip a bit - sifting that flour, the beautiful contrast between cinnamon and the other ingredients, that egg cracking open. I hope you feel that too, this calming vibe and all the love emerging from this simple cupcake shoot.
