Close Your Eyes and Listen, Sound is the Story
Behind the Work
Windows Error is narrative piece that tells a story all through audio. I wanted to tell a comedic/ slice of life story that many people could relate to. What better way to convey modern problems than technical difficulties with your laptop or computer? This piece starts of simple: familiar sounds such as an alarm, a showerhead, a microwave. As workflow resumes, the unwelcome scenario of a faulty computer burdens the protagonist. For this project, I utilized my Zoom H4n Pro recorder, which was perfect in capturing detailed audio. I edited the sounds in Adobe Audition signifying range in my skillset. Overall, this piece further highlights my ability to produce storytelling in various mediums.
Project Timeline
This was my first time using Adobe Audition. The program had many tools, but I did not use them extensively beyond smooth fade in and out, but the experience was refreshing nonetheless.
Behind the Work
The Killer was my first attempt at narrative production through audio. For this piece I employed a more fictional scenario: the killer hunting a prey. One can assume the multiple sounds a storyteller can use to convey this premise. For me, I wanted to make something that was more slow and suspenseful, therefore, I used more simple sounds rather than over the top sounds that implies excessive imagery. I used my Zoom H4n Pro recorder to record the audio, and I edited the sound on Premiere Pro. Overall, this piece demonstrates my ability to tell varying stories through multiple mediums.
