The Olfactory of Spices

The Olfactory of Spices -  as I called it was one of my first projects I did in my foundation year. The concept was based on how objects instill nostalgia and bittersweet memories and thus, we were to make a portable museum that could be carried around.
After giving it some thought, as a Bengali I realized the abundance of spices and the richness of flavors in my house would make up for the perfect 'Spice museum'. I remember tip toeing to the kitchen as my olfactory senses (located inside our nose which gives us our sense of smell) would lust over the numerous condiments being friend in ghee and this is what inspired this concept.
Some interesting trivia about every item was erected on cards to support each of them so This was one of my first projects I was experimenting with and I learnt a lot about presenting information in a creative and better way.
One of the restrictions was to be as local as possible so I used aluminum foil as the containers that would replicate steel katoras and M-seal clay for mimicking the spices. Turmeric, cardamom, black pepper, sesame seeds, Kashmiri chillis - all were painted in acrylics and coated with the powders of their respective spices so the smell would induce the thrill of nostalgia. How many can you smell?
