RÄDDA TORSKEN! (SAVE THE COD!)
Rädda torsken! (”Save the cod!” in English) aims to save the cod in the waters around Uddevalla, Sweden, from extinction by making artificial reefs and using transmitters.
The symbol, obviously a cod, is made out of three symbols where the tail fin, a heart, symbolizes the passion as the project is supported and partly funded by people who believe in the cause; the mid part has the shape of an hourglass and symbolizes that the time is running out, and—finally—the quarter shaped head stands for the decreasing fish stock.
The name is set in Token Italic (originally named Token Yellow) by Phantom Foundry via Future Fonts. Token mixes perfection with its opposite; creating a typeface with a lot of personality that feels very human and rather unpretentious, which balance well with the symbol(s).
The Rädda torsken! project was highlighted in 2021 by Future Fonts as a stellar example of Token in use. The project was made pro bono.
