This organization invited me to help them reclaim their website from a site where none of their current organizers had access and create a new website where they could become self-sufficient and bring in volunteers to update the website as needed.

This project included some tricky online footwork involving proving that the organizers I was working with were indeed the current board directors of the non-profit organization in order to regain access to the website.  Once we proved this to GoDaddy, they allowed us to create new login credentials.  

From there I had to do some deeper investigation to discover and reclaim where the URL was hosted.  A similar process of proving the legitimacy of our request to reclaim the account had to be done.

After regaining access to these accounts, I worked collaboratively with the organizers to import the information from the original site to a Wix site which they could easily learn how to edit and maintain on their own.  (The original site had been designed by a code writing student in an early website building format involving writing code.)  

Once we got the basics transferred to the Wix site, I walked the organizers through the steps of learning how to edit and maintain the site on their own and how to bring in any other volunteers to participate in the process moving forward.

This was a User Experience design project in that I helped the users, the organizers, to have a more functional experience with their website building process.  I also advised them on how to create their website for the end user's experience, however, as the whole point was to create self-sufficiency for them, they were free to follow my advice or not.  

Some aspects of the site that I upgraded to a more user friendly format included embedded registration and application forms from Google Forms instead of the downloadable PDF's for these forms that they had on their previous site.  I believe they elliminated those google forms for some reason and went back to the downloadable forms.

I feel this project was a success, however, as the users I was concerned with were the current and future organizers who now have autonomy with their website.
