Data Visualization Online Course
In 2021 I’ve worked with great care on my online data visualization course on Domestika. It’s a guide to create data visualizations able to engage the readers and communicate stories.
The course is divided into 4 Units: I will guide you through all the steps of a data visualization project: from the sources to the final piece.
First, I’ll introduce the broad field of data visualization, its role and potential, and I will talk about the crucial relationship between information design and its audience.
Then we’ll work on the first step of the design process: selecting sources and data. Learn how to find official and reliable sources and how to choose data that tells the stories you want to convey. Create a dataset using Google Sheets and explore the essential shift from an information table to a visual representation.
I will share my process for finding visual inspiration to design an engaging piece that communicates multiple layers of information. We’ll work with design softwares like RAWGraphs and Adobe Illustrator and then create key elements like legends and visual guides, which facilitate an effortless reading experience.
Finally I will share some tips on refining and finalizing your work down to the last detail.
