PERCEPTION THROUGH GUSTATORY RECORDS

A multi-sensorial experience ​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​The perception of flavour strongly depends on the appearance, texture, smell
and external factors like lightingsound and environment. Through this project, I tried addressing the human tendency to make judgements without actually knowing a person or their situation.
The changing environment and lighting impaired the audience's ability to guess the flavours / rule out options by sight. Colour interaction and masking of smell made it hard for them to choose between the dips. A lot of them couldn't identify the taste, and was surprised to see
what they really are in white light after the experience.
Are we all too quick to make judgements?
This experience was part of a bigger exhibition SenseUs, where each of us tried to express / introduce ourselves with respect to the five senses, focusing more on culinary expression. ​​​​​​​
