Project: Nintendo Switch Bot
For this period of 3D Art class we were assigned to make our own personal project. Before we start working on it, we had to make a work plan and determine a goal on which we work towards to. In the end, we'd have achieve that goal we set.

My goal was to model a 3D character in Blender and try to stretch out my skills to see how far I can go. The character would be a 3D printed final product.
I didn't do much for research because I found this Nintendo Switch-looking character a while back on Pinterest. For a long time I had this idea: "But what if it was a 3D character?" And that's practically how I started. Unfortunately, that character was also the only image I could find and was also my only reference material (aside from some joy-con images that I also used as a reference).
After taking a good look at my reference material, I started on working simple "blockouts". The mistake I unfortunately made was that I started working on shaping the character immediately after. However, I was still focusing on the big shapes and worked towards the smaller shapes from there.
I was tempted to make the loops and the buttons because I didn't want to make the legs and feet due to not knowing how to make them (yet). So I procrastinated on those body parts and eventually started on the smaller details anyway.
After starting on the smaller details in the early stages, I moved on to making the buttons for the body and and the joysticks on his body and the joy-cons on the side of his head. After that, I eventually went and looked up a tutorial on how to make the feet for my 3D model.

I ended up changing the arms because they didn't look good the first time around, so I used my own switch controllers for a more realistic and accurate reference. I was quite proud of how everything came together in the end.
And since I'm going to post this on my Behance page, I might as well give life to this cute character. So I started adding colors according to the reference that I used before I did my final renders. I also added the face as the "finishing touch".
But I still wasn't satisfied with this and noticed that I was missing something. And this is where I started forgetting some smaller details before adding those on my model. I also decided to let my character stand atop of a tribune to make it look less "empty".
I also added the red "screen" to match the reference perfectly and after that I experimented a little bit with the renders, looking to see which one looks best and eventually settled for this render:
Unfortunately, by the time I finish making this post I won't have my model with me yet. So as a place holder I decided to import it into Sketchfab for a 360 view as my final product!
