In our audiovisual full-dome experience we reflect on the topic "Inside Outside" with a journey through worlds within worlds where nothing is as it first seems.
We explored the theme through two operations - visual and aural illusions. With surreal collages and anamorphic forms as visual references, we created worlds that play with themes of color, solid and void forms, portals and anamorphosis. We supplement these visual illusions with aural “synchresis,” a term defined by French theorist Michel Chion as the mental fusion between a sound and a visual when these occur at exactly the same time. The aural experience of this piece attempts to highlight the relationship between themes like natural and artificial, empty and full, and anticipation and realization.
