SM;)E SINGAPORE / 2013

Organised in response to the Gallup poll last year that reported Singapore as the unhappiest nation in the world, Sm;)e Singapore’s objective was to give the public a platform to express their reasons for smiling and showcase their smiles, particularly during the National Day period.

Smiling portraits of the public were captured at Central and along the Singapore River from 2 Aug to 10 Aug. These portraits were printed in wide-format of up to 22 by 22 inches. 1,909 portraits were tiled to compose a photo montage over four days. This ‘Urban Photoscape’ covered 559 square metres of Central, Level 1, breaking the 2009 Singapore record of 187 square metres!
