Luci's at the Orchard (Poster Research)

In this project, we needed to visit an interesting place in Arizona that we'd think other GCU students would enjoy too. With the exploration of this special place, we needed to create a large poster representing the establishment. The place I chose was a cute little brunch/dinner spot, Luci's at the Orchard, located here in the heart of Phoenix.
The Creative Brief shares the ideal demographics for customers at Luci's.
Mind maps, brainstorms, overheard conversations/sounds, ephemera, & hand-drawn sketches are all a part of the process of creating a thoughtful final product. All of my sketches were created from pictures from the restaurant that I took myself!
More pictures of the establishment. I absolutely loved going here mainly because this restaurant wasn't like anything I've ever seen before - it had a kids' splash pad, an outdoor seating canopy area, & even a little candy & icecream shop towards the back. There were so many cool & fun parts to this place, I couldn't get enough!
After a lot of consideration on how I wanted to share this place with my peers, I started to create different thumbs & roughs on how I wanted the poster to look. I had so many different thoughts on how I wanted to create the poster, it was so difficult to come down to one final decision.
This poster is an 18x24 inch poster made with white, black, & grey cardstock. Ultimately, I made the decision to go with Thumb #39 for my final poster. I felt that it was a fun & modern design that had potential as a large poster. The citrus print comes from the print on their to-go bags & despite the numerous little orange slices I had to cut out by hand with my x-acto knife, I really enjoyed creating this poster.
