META KRESE — Waiting in vain

META KRESE —
Waiting in vain
The bilingual (Slovene + Italian) book by photojournalist Meta Krese documents the stories of the widows of Srebrenica who took shelter in refugee camps in the 1990s, where they still live. These camps were created as interim solutions, but they still exist today. Widows, their children and grandchildren live there with all the traumas of war that peace does not erase. The graphics of the book emphasize the marginality of the thematics through a layout where the contents are positioned at the edges of the pages and with a radical, minimal typographic and chromatic approach (just one font in use, one Pantone, materic papers). The book's title typographic design and its visual concept (the three O letters within the brackets) metaphorically remark the isolation of the protagonists of the narrated stories and photographies (three generations still living in the camps, after almost 30 years).
