RGU Open Access Resources

In the poster context I wanted to create a space environment to create the isolated feeling and really draw impact and attention to the padlock/melting earth feature itself.

Was unable to source the exact typeface used for the open access logo so I utilised the closest I could find for visual reference:
Futura Bold

Then looked at how to attract further attention to the event surrounding Open Access through typography by applying an open line technique.

As well as typographic open line techniques to highlight information (such as repetition of the word open) the blue was used to highlight important information such as the theme of the event and the dates the event lasted for. Logos relating to the project was placed minimally but clearly in the bottom right for reference of the organisations involved.

In terms of colour palette I wanted to stay realistic to allow the minimal concept to read nice and clearly. Having a black space-like base paired with the creamy white/aqua from the earth/padlock feature to create visual unity.
Final tweaks were made to the weight of open line features as well as colour applications for a smoother read. Final detail of stars were included to add further depth and help really bring the environment realistically to life.
The climate crisis is something we often see in headlines nowadays so wanted to find a way to create impact without creating something we have all seen before. As well as this I wanted to stay away from anything cute and pleasing to the eye but instead something eye catching, with a lasting impact on the viewer allowing for reflection and desire to find out more about the event and how they could benefit/contribute to this resource.
