Marisa Chisholm // Honours Student 2023

As a photographer, I possess a deep appreciation for the impact that photography can have on the world. As a powerful tool for communication and expression, I believe that it enables us to have the creative freedom to depict our own visual realities.
During my time at Gray’s School of Art, I have been inspired to produce work that centres on themes of ethics, morals, and feminism. It is important to me that I create work that is not only meaningful, but capable of raising awareness and promoting social change.

Throughout the year I have undertaken extensive research into the ethical principles of photojournalism. Combining my studio practice with my dissertation topic where I investigated the regulation of ethics in photojournalistic practice, my major project serves as an extension of this, communicating the issue in a visually engaging manner.

I embrace different styles and aim to be multifaceted in my work, producing a range of diverse projects to showcase various skills. This year I have also worked on book cover design and product photography. I embrace opportunities that challenge myself and I am excited to continue to push myself to grow and evolve as a photographer.
