LACUNA FILMES     VISUAL Identity    Brazil, 2013
✦  PRESENTATION UPDATED IN 2024

A Brazilian award-winning film producer that engages and captivates its viewers with real-life issues.

LACUNA Films is a Brazilian audiovisual production company with over 150 awards, including the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Their films have been showcased at prominent international events like the Guadalajara Film Festival and the Biarritz Festival, along with esteemed Brazilian festivals in Brasília, Gramado, Paulínia, and Rio de Janeiro. The company's founders aim to emotionally engage viewers and provoke reflection on various real-life issues through entertainment. such as sexuality, sentimental life nuances and political awareness. My role was to encapsulate these objectives and essence into a memorable symbol and a vibrant visual identity.

GOALS & SOLUTION
The visual identity was crafted to unify the following three concepts:

To feel - Productions that concentrate on authentic themes, capturing the emotions of the viewers.
To relate - Films that explore complex emotional life situations in a warm and close manner.
To reflect - The process initiates self-reflection in the viewer about what they've seen, leading to an internal change.

The logo symbol is an intriguing shape that, through its movement, captivates viewers. It is made up of two mirrored shapes that come together to form an eye, symbolizing observation and sensation. The logo's typography is straightforward but thought-provoking, with letters that connect in an unexpected manner. The color palette and accompanying graphics create a visually rich universe that represents the layers of our subjectivity. These graphics were also designed with motion graphics in mind, reinforcing a sense of transformation.
