Project Story:
Usha would get ready for the day, get out of bed, and head to her dressing mirror. She would take a few seconds to gaze at her own reflection, memorizing every nuance of her features and hair. She would then smile and get on with her day. Despite having dementia , she cares about her appearance since it was deeply carved into her personality when she was young. She always had her hair well brushed, a touch of lipstick and a vibrant hue of nail polish on. She loved to feel lovely and took great care in her looks. It was a bittersweet reminder of the girl she used to be, but her family is glad to see that Usha is still able to cherish the things that used to make her ecstatic. It offered a humble reminder that beauty and elegance may still be found regardless of dementia. She believed that no matter what aging did to her behavior or mental health, beauty could never be abandoned. Ageism and negative stereotypes frequently affect people of seniority, which lowers their feeling of worth in society. It is time to redefine beauty and confront conventional beauty norms by embracing who we truly are with elegance and dignity, and leading lives defined by imperfections, love and joy.
