New Construction: Phase #1 of 2

(...While I had nothing to do with the production of the video / link above, I remain privileged to have been an Integral part of The Process that resulted in this Architecture...)

The Video below was shot this last Friday, 2012-03-04 at the Grand Opening.  It's not production quality, but does represent a pretty cool testament to the positive Work of Many Contributors.

After The Video below, (...especially if you're on a smart phone because you won't even see it...) please scroll down to find more stuff... Thanks!

Building  is Phase 1 of 2 for the New Industrial Technology Center on PCCD's San Marcos Campus.
Its Form evolves from pulling things apart...
Its Function is defined by bringing things together...
Strategic, both programmatically and functionally, Building IT represents a razor sharp ‘thin-pen’ response to ‘fat-pen’ planning moves that were prescribed in PCCD's Master Plan 2022.

Around a few folding tables, under the fluorescence of an unassuming District Facilities meeting room, big picture gestures associated with the Master Plan were met squarely with highly focused, proactive, and collaborative planning sessions.
Early deliberations were marked by pivotal efforts from a Few Key People.  These Visionary Folks were the originators of a collective that is accomplishing great things.
First meeting agendas pursued a targeted, objective, "rubber-hits-the-road" approach inspired by Vision.  Concentric working agendas focused on developing the IT Center as a Unified Whole.  The ensuing balancing act found its venue somewhere between the rigor of striving for economy and the challenging reach toward dynamic expression.
I’m humbled and privileged to have been part of that originating action, and even more so honored to continue working together with Others to see its fruition.
A list of Project Participants is presented at the 'credits' section end of this summary.  Hopefully it's comprehensive.  Please take the time to read it as Everyone listed played a pivotal role in The Process.
From an independent vantage point occurring some three years after The Process started, allow me offer a guiding analogy for consideration as you look at the following content:

For just a moment... Think about an Ant Colony...

…Ant Colonies are organically generated marvels of magnitude and intricacy…
…By definition, they are never the product of individual effort…
…They are always the result of coordinated, effective partnership toward a common goal …
…Their very existence betrays the stature of their builders…

That said, the material presented herein similarly represents the Product of Many.

My name is Eric Stephen Schulz... but for fun in this Narrative, you might just want to call me Ant "X”.
(…That's just a tounge-in-cheek literary device suggesting a couple things in keeping with the metaphor.  The underlying idea is that, while my personal contributions were many, while those remain significant, and while I did work really (really) hard through thick and thin and through overwhelming transition for over three years...  in the end, The Project  is not mine.
Trust me, it’s more than enough just to say I'm just really stoked to have been part of an incredible collaboration.  What a great experience!)

I’m pretty convinced that no one will ever really take the time to ask, “What did ‘Ant X’ do to make this Cool Thing happen?” and even if someone did raise the question, my response is that really won’t be important.  The sum of the Group Effort will vastly out value the contributions of any Individual.
What’s presented here is merely a personal take on what was, on what is, and on what will become of the ongoing collaboration offered by many Contributors.  This Stuff is provided as portfolio material for me, but moreover, it’spresented as a tribute to those who made things happen and a glimpse of what will be a thing of wonder that Many will inhabit and use day to day for decades to come.
How cool is that?!
