The Rows at Eastgate

ENDS 305 – Design Studio IV

Instructor: Frances Downing Texas A&M College of Architecture

Project: A townhouse that is to be designed based off of a family created by the designer.

Program: The studio was assigned to create a neighborhood of townhouses, each sharing a common dividing wall. The family living in my home consisted of 1) a grandmother, 2) a mother, 3) a daughter and 4) a student renting a room. A light well was placed in the center of the house in order to pull in as much natural daylight into the house as possible. The grandmother’s room was placed on the first floor for accessibility. The common family areas were placed on the second floor, and the remaining bedrooms were located on the third and fourth floors. The guest room was placed over the garage to allow some privacy for the guest, as well as easy access to the garage.
