This is a tropical kingbird. What was unusual about capturing these photographs at the time was that this was the third ever sighting of this bird in Maryland. These were taken at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. It was fun to watch it as it acrobatically flew through the air catching insect to eat. This was in the fall, so it was quite a ways out of its usual geographic range.
