Composition & History Genres - Street Photography
What is the work about?
The purpose of this project was to explore the different styles of photography and choose a style to recreate. I chose to try street photography. I researched popular street photographers to draw inspiration and finally went out and attempted to shoot some images in that genre. These photos are taken at the university in my hometown.
Why I Decided To Photograph This Series
I decided to take street photography style photos because I like how this style helps to show the beauty that exists in everyday life. I drew inspiration from photographers like William Eggleston and Eugene Atget. I think the photos I took ended up looking more like Atget's style than Eggleston's since I photographed on a gloomy day and went for a darker theme.
What I Learned
Through this process I learned a lot more about street photography which was to be expected but I also learned that I am more capable of taking photos that I like than I thought I would be. I wasn't very confident in my ability to create something I liked at the beginning but the photos I shot turned out better than I expected.
