MacMillan Biochemistry Learning Management System
Six Red Marbles / User Experience Design
Goal:
Final deliverables were eight flexible Storyline templates for a digital biochemistry project. Templates were accessible, incorporated instructional design, and met Macmillan's pedagogical objectives.
Process:
- As the lead User Experience Designer, I reviewed the provided content and identified functionality and accessibility requirements. Adhered to MacMillan's branding/style guidelines to design assets and components needed for the templates.
Gathering data and reviewing needs:
- Collaborated with an MIT Biochemistry professor as lead subject matter expert.
- Led client meetings with MacMillan and subject matter experts for review cycles, presented and defended design decisions.
- Collaborated with development team to meet the goals of client requests within feasibility and scope of work parameters.
Designed draft templates:
- Utilized Macmillan’s Common Design language library of assets to assure branding consistency.
User testing:
- Authored User Testing script and led user testing zoom meetings with five college-age students.
- Created a user flow of high fidelity mock-ups, which allowed user testers to work through the mock-up, simulating the user journey through the design and recording feedback.
- Collaborated with Project manager and Lead instructional designer to agree on recommended next steps for final design adjustments.
