Rumour, Heartbroken, and Relatable are the 3 keywords that Marvin Gaye’s song ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’ have given to me. My models have changed their shapes over time but with this final one, I wanted to create a form in which everything wraps around the main object - the aluminium ball - on a chaotic base to show a chaos and suffocation impression (Rumour). The burning technique also brings a sense of heat and dryness. Besides that, I also don’t want the plastic to be roasted thoroughly as I want to keep a see-through texture which shows the purity of love (Heartbroken), and by that the cutting technique will be shown more (burning too much will cover that). The cutting technique also helps me represent the explosion of emotions (Heartbroken) with its free blow. Lastly, with the holes on the plastic pieces on the sides (which shows hollow), I want to show both my 2 qualities: Heartbroken and Relatable. The tension and fragility (Heartbroken) can be seen in the delicate joints between holes. The delicacy also shows the intersection and connection (Relatable). Altogether, I want my model to show the complexity in one’s mind when going through an unpleasant experience in love.
