Moto app new design experience.

Do more with your Motorola.

Moto app is a platform that promotes all experiences of use in Motorola devices. The first principle that guides the Moto app is "Do more with your Moto". The project started to clear the understanding of each experience and enhance the visual design from the old version. Research sessions identified the need for the app to be more visually attractive, personal and to go beyond what a regular preloaded app can offer. Therefore, the new Moto app is an app that at the same time helps users to find experiences that will change the way they interact with their phones, and delight them with a totally different visual proposal.

Design Objective

The main goal of the app is to educate, respecting the stages of understanding of each user. The first step is to clarify the general app use through different approaches and to engage the user to dive into one feature. The second is to bring more elucidation to each experience, ending with a page devoted to each of them, with explanations, tutorials and animations. With this we respect the learning progress of users and consolidate a visual language for the brand with exclusive illustrations, showing characters on their daily phone use with a storytelling approach.

Solution

It's an app that already existed on Motorola devices, but it was nothing more than a list. Through research the team collected feedback that helped to conceptualize a new interface. After the first definitions, the visual interface was created using Google’s material design integrity recommended for Android devices. I conceptualized and illustrated all cards and heroes, creating a unique language, capable of connecting to a global and diverse audience and animations inside of each experience, helping to adapt to the new design language.

Results

The Motorola experiences were created to increase phone usability. Shortcuts that helps the accessibility to who have difficulties to handle the device and creates a quick way to activate the main resources of the phone. However, many users don't know about the real capability of their device, or don't understand what each feature has to offer. The goal was to provide a bridge between the physical and digital activity, in order to direct attention to the daily opportunities it offers its consumers.
