Indigenous Art
Research poster that shows the five animals I made Nazca-style art form. Their art style was giant sand carvings so I decided to make my animals more sharp edged and not smooth, trying to replicate carving. For my mock I liked how the chimpanzee looked on the billboard and I liked the red brick building for the background.
For our scavenger project I traveled to the food court to get salt because the nazca people used rockets and some white sand to make negitive points in their carving. I got the sand from the volleyball pit.
For my sketches I had a lot of diffrent Ideas that I felt didnt really go with the nazca culture but I decided to go with my sketch number two. The lines felt rough and jagged like if it was carved into the sand. The nazca culture used these ridge points as shown below to view their carvings.
This donkey was one of my more challenging projects because they made very ragged and sharpe edge carving so with this I decided to leave the whole body as negitive space because I was on the fence of using little detail or a lot of detail but after going over their art work they seemed to use very little detail.
