Lunch with Linus & Lucy

This was a project done for a graphic design class. The assignment was to record daily life practices for a month and make those findings into a brochure. I chose to record some of the daily practices of my two Netherland Dwarf rabbits: Linus and Lucy. I recorded what foods they ate, when they needed to take medication, their moods, and their napping habits. For the brochure, I focused on their diet, since rabbit diet is something not many people know about. When I first got rabbits I had no idea their diets needed to be so complex and I wish I had a little guide to what they could and could not eat when I was first learning how to take care of them.

Over the month I was recording them, I noticed certain foods would make them act differently. Specifically, my rabbit Lucy who has a bladder issue often had flare-ups on days that she had even the tiniest amount of calcium in her food. I think every rabbit is different, but I wanted to make a guide to some of the things I have learned about what rabbits can eat and how their diet can impact their overall health.

When I think of rabbits I think of furry cute little animals. I wanted this brochure to be a different way to think about them. I chose to use some grotesque imagery of rabbit guts and gross yellow and green colors to emphasize a different point of view on rabbit care. It is not always cute.
