Overview:

Situated in the middle of Wellington City, Lombard St. Carpark, a large vehicle storage facility occupies a large footprint of the vibrant cityscape. The assignment was to reimagine the carpark in a new light, and give the building a new purpose.

By using the existing framework of the parking lot, and designing around it, we could achieve our goals for the building without generating unnecessary constructional waste.

Being enclosed on all sides by other buildings within the lot, the idea was to focus the perspectives of the occupants inwards. It serves as a library, community centre and a roof top garden that is accessible to all members of the public.
