Cycle Syncing Calendar

PH300 Brief
Students are required to research food and narrow it down to a specific insight and drive the appropriate communications from it. The intent is to shift the onus of research onto the students to define this for themselves rather than be given all the information thus the resultant artefacts will be original in insight and visual direction. At least two communication Design mediums are to be explored to fulfil the concept of integrated design communication.

Project Concept and Rationale

In a world where wellness is a priority and self-care takes center stage, understanding the rhythms of our bodies is essential.
The 11th House Cycle-Syncing Calendar is a project designed to delve into the intimate relationship between food and the
female body across its diverse menstrual phases. This innovative endeavor is not just a culinary exploration; it's a tailored guide
for young adults aged 18-25, making the often complex science behind nutrition relatable and accessible.
The concept behind the “Cycle Syncing Calendar”:

It is a structured yet vibrant calendar, not just marking days but guiding you through the ebbs and flows of your body's natural
cycle. Each phase comes alive with its unique color scheme, offering an instant visual cue that is both engaging and educational.
This isn't just any calendar; it's a trusted companion, understanding your body's needs as intimately as you do. In the calendar,
you will find a pack of colour-coded stickers, corresponding directly to your specific phase of the month. This interactive
asset will help individuals keeo track of their phases, one day at a time.

But the “Cycle Syncing Calendar” isn't just about tracking; it's about action. Each phase of the calendar seamlessly links to a
corresponding recipe pack. Imagine flipping to the sage green hues of the menstrual phase and finding comforting, nourishing
recipes designed to ease those days. From hearty soups to nutrient-packed smoothies, these recipes aren't just meals—they're
a form of self-care, tailored to support you during your cycle.
In a world that often overlooks the profound connection between food and our bodies, The 11th House “Cycle-Syncing Culinary
Journey" stands out as a beacon of understanding. It's more than just a calendar and a recipe pack; it's a holistic approach to
well-being, designed for young adults seeking to nourish not just their bodies but their souls. Welcome to a world where food
becomes not just sustenance, but a form of self-love—a colorful, delicious, and deeply fulfilling journey awaits.

Reflection

Embarking on this project was an immersive dive into a subject that truly ignites my passion: women's health. Through
my research, the profound connection between hormonal balance and nutrition became vividly clear. The evolution of
this calendar was a significant journey. Delving deep into the impact of food on the body and transforming these
findings into something tangible for women to easily understand and adopt presented its challenges. Yet, through
numerous drafts, mock-ups, and trial-and-error processes, I arrived at the final iteration: The 11th House Cycle Syncing
Calendar.

Designing the layout for both the nutrition packs and the calendar was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. However,
during the printing phase, I encountered a hurdle. The specific newsprint-style paper I envisioned was not feasible for
the size I had chosen. Instead, the final mock-up had to be printed on a 70gsm shiny white paper. While this deviated
from my initial vision, I came to understand the constraints of time and the limitations of available printers.
My exploration into women's health and nutrition during this project was truly enlightening. It has not only broadened
my understanding but also motivated me to synchronize my own cycle more closely with the foods I consume. The use
of various materials played a crucial role in bringing my project to life. Printing on trace for the nutrition pack folders,
juxtaposed with the textured Fabriano paper, added a tactile and visual dimension that enhanced the overall presentation.

This project has been a labor of love, merging my passion for women's health with design. While challenges arose, they
were met with creativity and determination. The 11th House Cycle Syncing Calendar stands as a testament to the
invaluable connection between nutrition, hormonal balance, and the empowerment of women to take charge of their
health and well-being.
