Edge of Eternity - Alternate Logo(s)

Edge of Eternity
Logo brainstorming

This is my most recent project.
One day came to my attention a trailer of a game called 'Edge of Eternity' by Midgar Studios and I immediately fell in love with it.
Being a jrpg player myself, I was marvelled at what they did and the gameplay, turn based combat system. A real treat, in my opinion. After checking out the trailer and their respective sites, I decided to come up with some logo designs for the game! Even though they have one already.
Let's get to it, shall we?

[HUGE UPDATE]

It's been a while ever since I did this project, in the meatime, Edge of Eternity got a huge boost in notoriety and started a kickstarter page to help Midgar Studio make this game come true with the help of fans!

A lot of new content has been implemented along with many other great surprises! If interested do please check the kickstarter page! If you're a jrpg fan, you're not going to be disappointed.
The image above is their official logo that can be found on the game's website.
The section above are the fonts and symbol ideas I had gathered after some research. Since the devs didn't say anything about the story itself, I had to go with the title and searched mostly symbols regarding 'infinity/eternity':

- kanjis (japanese caligraphy) for Eternity;
- the dragon Ouroboros
- the egyptian ankh,
- the infinity symbol and the eternal knot significantly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism
- circular shapes

In terms of fonts, I searched some sci-fi, clean futuristic ones, because the game takes place in a sci-fi setting, according to what it says in the game's description in the site.
Above are the set that I developed with the info previously mentioned. My goal was to junction an organic, human, natural side to the logo, hence the effect of a paintbrush. Like a painter would fill his canvas with various strokes. In contrast, and thinking of the sci-fi setting, the fonts are used as the inorganic part of the logo. Very clean and tidy.
These were the two ideas behind the creative process.
Above, we have the colour palette. As you can see, blue is the proeminent colour. The research I did for the colour was mainly looking up sci-fi movie posters and take samples out of it.

And there you have it. The final results. It was a bit of an ordeal in my opnion. I always think I'm always being too repetitive. At one point I was just drained. Regardless, I was pleased with the majority of the results.

And as an extra, I did some mock up boxarts to see how the logos looked and if they'd actually looked decent as cover art. Not all of them, mind. Just some of my favourites.. As well as the PEGI logo, this case 16 because honestly think that in terms of age that's what the target audience is, and the Midgar Studios logo. I used the windows game cover template because it's supposed to be on PC only.
In conclusion, I was really pleased with this project. Now I can see the FF logo influences getting to me.
