Pratt's first semester Technics course emphasizes on geometry of architecture, employing physical modeling in creating such structures and theoretical analysis of basic structural systems
For this project we were assigned to build a model that could support a four-pound weight through a span and canteliever design.
Basswood Sticks; 60" x 12" x 4"
This piece wraps around the arm and onto the shoulder and neck, creating a lever where the chin can rest. Essentialy, this model forces the body to maintain an aesthetic pose while leaning against the wall. This model was chosen to be archived as one of the best presentations of our studio.
