Traditional Pahari Painting - Basoli

Pahari painting (literal meaning a painting from the mountainous regions, pahar means a mountain in Hindi) is an umbrella term used for a form of Indian painting, originating from Himalayan Hill kingdoms of North India, during 17th-19th century. The Basohli School is the oldest one amongst Pahari Schools in the hill area. I took various elements from the Pahari School book and constituted them all together in to my own composition. The color selection is very contrasting and sharp since it was one of the major key attributes of Basohli school.

The size of the painting is 5.5 inches x 4 inches.

Gouache on Wasli.
