Urban Devotion is a work of art that pays homage to performance artist, Chris Burden. As Burden has been a forefront of performance art, today he makes object based work. This installation was to become an object based performance. The artist stands still on a light-box platform creating a sense of an object of desire and display. Behind the artist is the well-known work of Burden, “Urban Light”. Trenda wears a contraption on her head involving an LCD screen playing a ghostly animation of a face. The face reacts with different expressions while the viewer ponders whether she is a machine, object or a human entity.
