SAMPLE SCENES & TRANSITIONS
The basic premise of the 2 minute film is this: a fishwoman enters a beauty pageant. She faces some tough competition. I wanted to make my characters as distinguishable as possible, so no one could be mistaken for another. This thesis film was an exercise in motivation and finishing, as well as a challenge in terms of color and composition.
BACKGROUNDS
I was inspired by bright colors and at the time I was experimenting with flat design and veering away from detailed rendering. The characters had a lot of details themselves and I wanted the attention to be on the characters, rather than the backrounds. But I didn't want "simple" to mean "boring". As you can see in the gifs, I chose a subtle texture over the background to distinguish between the characters.
