We wanted to build an app that knew exactly how to augment your messages with the right media at the right time. We focused on speed, context-based asset suggestion, and intuitive gesture-based interaction.
The client wanted to showcase an app that is driven by user intent via semantic analysis. To gauge the user's intent, the designers considered the use of various signals and APIs (from low to high) such as time of day, weather, facial mood recognition (Emotient/Kairos), and semantic/sentiment analysis (Watson).
Scope and complexity notwithstanding, this constraint to consider only available APIs increased the projected feasibility of the product.

The in-house team was fairly happy with the results, given that we only had two weeks to produce the concept+video from start to finish. After the first presentation, we had a window of three weeks until the next one, so I decided to work with a dedicated video producer to see how far we could take the concept:
