ENVIRONMENTS of Kingdom: New Lands

We wanted to make the background look a bit more interesting, especially when most of the trees are cut down. One of the things we did was making the 'random chest' in the forest more interesting by adding a ruined castle in the background. Perhaps a failed attempt of a previous king or queen to survive the harsh environments of Kingdom?
It didn't seem fair that only archers and builders got to have their own statue. So, using the already existing statues as reference, I made two new statues, one for the farmers and one for the knights. While I was at it, I also redid the pillars and activation effect.
We wanted to make all the statues reflect a female deity. As most Kingdom characters seem male, they needed some female guidance.
A big part of Kingdom: New Lands is escaping the island you're on. This is the wreck of the boat you need to rebuild in order to escape to the next land. Also note that corporeal character floating next to the boat, which was added for a reason (check out CHARACTERS OF KINGDOM: NEW LANDS for more info).
And here we have the boat after you've spent some time and money rebuilding it.
Kingdom: New Lands is not about destroying portals to finish the game anymore. Now you need to find out where the dock/beach is so you can clear a safe path for your boat. This also means we needed to redesign the level edges. One edge has got a beach, the other...
The mother of all portals! You can't destroy this portal, but you might be able to somehow shut it down for a while...
A complaint about Kingdom: Classic we encountered a lot was the lack of use of archer towers. Once you've built them they can end up sitting uselessly in the middle of your kingdom. That was something we wanted to address of course. So we came up with the Hermits! Living a secluded life deep in the forest, but like everyone in Kingdom they can be seduced by some coin.
The Ballista Hermit has spent most of its life researching projectile weaponry. Ask nicely and it might help you upgrade some of your towers to a powerful Ballista Tower!
The Baker Hermit was always concerned with the little people. Upgrading one of your towers to a Bakery will attract the less fortunate to come and feed on a nice loaf of bread.
Last but not least, the Knight Hermit. Being a former knight, he's seen his fair share of battles. He's done fighting, but he will help you out with training new recruits!
At one point during the development of Kingdom: New Lands we encountered a question of the forums: "Wouldn't it be nice to have a dog? That will walk alongside you and bark at enemies?" We thought that actually was a nice idea, so I got to work immediately and made a little dog the same day. There had to be a way to acquire the dog, so I trapped it under a fallen tree, poor dog. Now it's up to you to find out how to rescue it!
