LAN2 // Local Area Network Series

I created a temporary site-specific installation as part of the Design District Zagreb festival in June 2016. It's a sequel of a site-specific underwater installation I did back in 2014 using the same technique, but different materials.

Local Area Network (LAN) series are based on experimenting and exploring the macrame and weave forms by 'installing' them in various contexts. This time they've been put in public space to juxtapose their softness and warmth with the roughness and coldness of the street. Four installations were applied to vertical cellar bars of a randomly chosen building in the neighbourhood where the festival took place. Those messy bars, covered with dirt and accompanied with graffiti could be found all over Zagreb. We're all aware of their overall unpleasant appearance, but we still pass it by. For two weeks that couldn't be ignored. Instead of removing the unpleasant, new context was wrapped around it and offered a new visual meaning.
