"Synthesis"
These paintings were created during my final thesis for my Illustration major at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and was displayed at the art gallery. My abstract hand drawings represent a synthesis and synergy of higher dimensional portals inspired by science, biology, quantum physics, different forces of nature, dynamic flow and metaphysical energy. I believe we can create a better world vision together through the interdisciplinary partnership and merging of science, art and design rather than through their separation.
My work evolved as I began to explore beyond the pen and marker and began to collage and weave different paper materials, exploring negative space through cut outs and colored papers and exploring different forms and textures through mixed mediums. I further evolved the work as I began to digitize the drawings to explore effects like "mirroring" and "reflections" to create new patterns.
I purposely chose not to use a pencil or even paint as a medium so I could not "erase" anything or "paint over" a "mistake" and be bold and confident with every decision and mark I made with pens and markers. Every mark was intentional, allowing the creative energy to flow through me, with no expectation of the outcome other than creation.
Ultimately, I wanted to create something that had no orientation, no "top" or "bottom" or left or right so that the canvas can really be rotated at any direction for the viewer to "see" however they chose to see, leaving a subjective unique experience for each person. My vision was to create a visual self-sustaining organic open and closed-loop system feeding upon itself as it visually grows, expands and contracts dynamically and interweaves upon itself.

My next intention would be to further explore these types of algorithms and creations digitally through coding, generative art and ai tools. Below, I digitally scanned and played with the forms to create more layerings and a mirroring reflection to explore and expand the patterns.
