Branding for the cultural festival Galizia Cult, 2017

Brief. Development of the logotype and branded materials for the cultural forum Galizia Cult, which was aimed to promote the culture of West Ukraine of Ukraine in the centre of East Ukraine - Kharkiv.

Target audience. Although the forum was mainly aimed at the cultural intelligence and groups of interests, its primary goal was to involve the wide public of various ages into the intercultural dialogue.

Solution. The idea for the logo and identity appeared from the vision of the forum as the basis for cultural interchange. Squares stand for the ethnic regions and show its culture as the unique system of coordinates in which it was formed. There was also an intention to express such a complex and abstract meaning as ‘culture’ in the simple and flexible solution. The square was chosen as the primary element for the rest of designs. Each year 2 main colours will be changed depending on the region they symbolise and the square will be treated differently through the designs.

Effect & Affect. The forum held around 80 events during 2 weeks in the main cultural locations in Lviv city. It was visited by around 6 000 people, including theatrical performances, opera, orchestra, lectures, exhibitions and discussions. The forum increased an awareness of the cultural heritage and art treasures of the eastern Ukraine breaking the stereotypes and shifting the focus from the political disagreements and disconnection.
