No one enjoys being told they're predictable - and yet, that's what every social media platform tells us every single day! What you like and who you follow determines what you'll be 'served' in your feed through a host of complicated algorithms that, were they a person, would be leaning against a wall, their hands folded and a smirk on their face as they condescendingly utter "I can read you like a book".

Except they can't. People are way more multifaceted that any algorithm could ever predict, which means that what you're getting is only a small fraction of the content out there that may actually interest you.

Thankfully, WIRED San Francisco published an article on reconfiguring your social media consumption to fall outside the silo of algorithms, and they commissioned Timba Smits to illustrate an accompanying image.
