Identity is so much more than what is written in a passport.
In this project I explore what different meanings identity can have to different people. I wanted to go beyond borders and underneath the surface. Identity is a very personal topic and everyone has a different understanding of it and feels differently about it.
This short zine includes questionnaires, descriptive poems and personal stories from all around the world.

All photos are made by me on analog film and all large, black text used for titles and headings is my own handwriting in black marker.

The different fonts are supposed to visually connect to the diversity of personalities and texts which is showcased in this zine. The handwriting in some of the texts is from each person and adds a personal touch.

Not everything is black and white in reality, however I kept the design and all graphic elements in black and white, so as not to draw attention away from the content. All background elements are outlines of different countries' borders, which mix, interact and intertwine, to show that borders are merely lines which can be blurry and obscure at times.

While reading ask yourself: how would you answer these questions?
