Koha Beauty branding for Grace Cullinan
Koha Beauty is a small beauty business run by self employed Grace Cullinan. She wanted to create an environment where her diverse clients would feel comfortable, welcomed and she also wanted to provide great service at a great price. I portrayed these qualities by the use of colour pallette, text and lines.

Grace welcomed me into her office and the colour maroon immediately popped up, everything up to her candles and massage table. I used a warm, creamy colour to contrast with the maroon.

In terms of the font, I wanted to use something that represents beauty. I loved this free font, because it flowed well with the illustration very beautifully.

For the illustration I used a template from a Maori/Pacific Islander woman that I found from the internet. In many beauty brands, majority of the imagery are women of European decent, but for Grace's logo I felt the need to cater to everyone, and we see enough places with your typical beautiful, white woman with the pointy nose on your loyalty cards and I believed it was time to make woman and men feel beautiful too. My reasons for not putting hair to the model was because Grace did not have services for hair styling and I wanted to cater to men as well.
