In re-imagining the design of children's book series “A Series of Unfortunate Events” for an older, multi-generational audience, large cover illustrations of a key scene within each story are traded in for more subtle visual hints. Each of the three slipcovers take a phenomenon from the novel's plot, and create the illusion that each book was “damaged” by the particular phenomenon. The book series is unified by the use of classic serif typography on all three covers.
Features three matte paper slipcovers for the first three books of Lemony Snicket's “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Each book is identified by its damage, as well as its corresponding wash of color:
Book 1: The Bad Beginning

Book 2: The Reptile Room

Book 3: The Wide Window
