ColorProof product launch reel (cutdown version)
The key to writing copy for products is to find the right voice.  This sales piece had to speak directly to managers and buyers at top hair salons.  And I had to describe the details of each product within the 5 new lines.  Needless to say, I learned all I wanted to know about hair care with this huge undertaking.

Jim Markham is a Hollywood stylist god.  When he creates a new product, it's a big deal.  Luckily, we had access to him and his partners on this amazing shoot that included other pro stylists and many models.  Here, I've cut down the 6+ minute sales reel to a nice sample size.

Magnet Releasing sizzle reel
Magnet is another of Mark Cuban's adventures.  They've carved out quite a niche for themselves by accumulating some unique genre indies.

So now they've started their own YouTube channel and wanted an eye-catching intro.  I sifted through over 50 films to find the grittiest, funniest, scariest clips available.

Be forewarned:  this is very NOT SAFE FOR WORK.

Wheel of Fortune 25th Anniversary image campaign
Landing this project was a great feather in our caps.  The WoF producers are notoriously fickle.  They wanted a campaign that was different and had legs.  My first idea was, "What if the letters could talk?"  Then that was honed and honed...and honed until we had EVERYONE talking--the letters and the dollar figures.  I believe we had 9 characters in all.

They were so popular that they accompanied Pat and Vanna to NYC for a week of shows at Radio City.  I, in turn, was tasked with creating "bios" for each character for the WoF website.

Oh, and Z's ringtone?  My idea.

Fay Grim theatrical trailer
Here's a fun theatrical trailer I wrote and produced featuring the great Jeff Goldbum and Parker Posey.  It was a relief to work with a full feature that included action, comedy AND drama.  This one was an "indy darling" and Hal Hartley's  sequel to  Henry Fool.  I love working on trailers--no strict length limit, good production values, and stars, stars, stars!!

KREM 2 Real People/Real News image campaign
This is a project that I produced before KREM hired me on full-time.  It's part of a four-part campaign designed to show their news team as "real people".  I met with the team to learn a bit about their personal interests/hobbies, then scouted locations that exploited one of those interests.

Tom Sherry is such a personable guy in these situations.  It was fun shooting with ILF out on the golf course all day.

Nip/Tuck on-air featurettes
We were handed 9 hours of cast interviews and no direction from the client.  The only edict was that the sponsor needed mentioning at the beginning and the end of each spot.  I found common topics asked about among the actors, and my editor, Viz, and I pieced together the puzzles.  Not too shabby...

Divorce Court Season 7 launch
See how much fun you can have with a budget?  For the first spot, I took the idea of "She'll take half your stuff" to the extreme.  The prop guy said it was a challenge creating all those "half" props...especially when it came to slicing up a bowling ball.

The second spot features a behind-the-scenes look at Judge Mablean in action before her show.  We thought it would humanize her to the audience.

Bad News Bears tv spot
In my opinion, this spot turned out to be funnier than the entire movie.  Isn't that always the case?

Shuttle Discovery's Historic Mission trailer
This was the first of several projects for Mark Cuban's 2929 production companies.  Great visuals.  Big sound.  Cutting-edge format.   Everyone should have a spot like this on their reel.

Fun with Dick & Jane tv spot
When you have a movie based on those books, how do you not use its own style in the promotion??  This was a fun spot to write and produce.  So, press play...and see Dick run!
