Through the glistening roads, after hours of pouring rains,
In the lull of night, through the soft buzz of the shadowy lanes,
As the markets close,
And the humming engines shut down,
Conversations become quieter,
And a dog lets out a tired yawn.
The people head home, indifferent to the haze, the fog and the mist,
Taking leave from their daily chores,
Heading to their dear ones that they haven't today kissed,
Leaving a hushed town for the pensive traveller to roam,
To soak up the melancholic sights that the world dismissed.
