Pop-up to sztuka z papieru, dzięki której artysta może pokazać ruchomy świat swojemu czytelnikowi. Dzięki temu książka ożywa, a czytelnik może przenieść się do jej wnętrza.

Inspiracją do stworzenia autorskiej książki pop-up były dzieci zapatrzone w ekrany komputerów. Projekt ma na celu pobudzenie wyobraźni i nadanie książce wymiaru przestrzennego. Cele poboczne to: rozbudzenie u dzieci zainteresowania czytelnictwem i wypracowanie szacunku do książki, rozwój dziecięcej wyobraźni przestrzennej i technicznej związanej z mechaniką oraz motoryką ruchomych elementów książki, refleksja nad książką pop-up i pobudzenie wrażliwości artystycznej u dziecka.

Zakres pracy objął następujące czynności: napisanie tekstu, zaprojektowanie mechanizmów pop-up, wykonanie ilustracji, zaprojektowanie własnej typografii, skład oraz oprawę książki dla dzieci. Ilustracje tworzone były za pomocą akwareli i monotypii. Docelowo zostały one zdigitalizowane. Obróbka ilustracji została wykonana w programie Adobe Photoshop w celu ulepszenia jakości, usunięcia artefaktów i dodania tekstur do zeskanowanych obrazów.

Książka autorska powinna zawierać jak najwięcej elementów stworzonych przez autora. Dlatego zostały zaprojektowane dwa nowe kroje pisma: „KAJ” - tradycyjna pisanka, którym jest złamany wiersz i „Pluszek” - stworzony do tytułów.
Zastosowane płótno introligatorskie o kolorze amarantowym ma kojarzyć się z głównym bohaterem. Tytuł został nadrukowany tradycyjną grafiką warsztatową, techniką linorytu.

Format książki to 20×19,4 cm. Druk został wykonany w drukarni cyfrowej na kartonie offsetowym o gramaturze 190 g/m2. Książka składa się z oprawy, dwóch wyklejek oraz sześciu rozkładówek z konstrukcjami pop-up. Urozmaiceniem książki było użycie folii transparentnej, patyczków i sznurków ozdobnych. Książka zawiera wiele elementów zapewniających interakcję z czytelnikiem m.in. wysuwane elementy, a także dodatkowe skrzydełka, pod którymi kryją się dodatkowe ilustracje, tekst, czy konstrukcje pop-up.

Pop-up is an art that allows the artist to show the moving world to his reader. Thanks to this the book comes alive.

The inspiration to create this pop-up book were children staring at computers. The main theme of the diploma was to create an author’s pop-up book for children entitled: The Mysterious Story of Disappearing Socks. The project aims were to stimulate the imagination and give the book additional dimension. The side goals are: arousing interest in reading in children and teaching respect for the book, development of children’s spatial and technical imagination associated with the mechanics and motility of moving elements of the book, reflection on the pop-up book and stimulation of artistic sensitivity in the child.

The scope of work covered the following activities: writing text, designing pop-up mechanisms, making illustrations, designing your own typography, composition and setting the book for children. Illustrations were created using watercolour and monotype. Ultimately, they have been digitized. The illustration was processed in Adobe Photoshop to improve quality, remove artefacts and add textures to scanned images.

The author’s book should contain as many elements as possible created by the author. That is why two new typefaces have been designed: „KAJ” - a traditional Easter egg, which is a broken poem and “Pluszek” - created for titles.

Used magenta bookbinding cloth is supposed to be associated with the main character. The title was printed with traditional workshop graphics, linocut technique.

The format of the book is 20 × 19.4 cm. The printing was made in a digital printing house on an offset cardboard with a weight of 190 g / m2. The book consists of a binding, two stickers and six spreads with pop-up constructions. The variety of the book was the use of transparent film, sticks and decorative cords. The book contains many elements that ensure interaction with the reader, including sliding elements, as well as additional wings, under which there are additional illustrations, text or pop-up constructions.
