WHAT IS PINOCCHIO?

Pinoccho is a play by Theatre at the Passage. 

Theatre at the Passage works with mentally handicapped people. The theatre is trying to bridge the culture (by creating the stagings and theatre performances) with artistic and social sphere, and has been working in Banska Bystrica since 1995. 

MY ROLE:

Creating visual animated bridges between individual scenes to help to maintain the flow of the play.

TRICKY PART:

I worked with a theatre puppet, which was not well suited for stop-motion.
To be honest, it was extremely challenging to work with. 

In one of the scenes, (according to a script) the puppet was supposed to dismantle to pieces. However, I could not damage it, neither could I alter it by any means - the best opinion was to create the scene digitally but it was very time - demanding. 

Another tricky part was limited "shooting" time. The actors were in the middle of rehearsing so I ended up only having two days to shoot the footage. Afterwards, I continued working on it digitally without any option to re-shoot the shots. 

We shot the shots on green-screen. It's replacement took most of the overall production time.
"Think twice before using green screen" would be the key take-away from this project. :)
