SuitUp provides personalized clothing recommendations for people who have needs to keep up with the current trend, who have trouble dressing themselves up or need advice from more experienced people, and who want to keep track of items looked online based not only on demographic information, such as gender, age, body type but also on personal preferences gathered via a fun game Hot or Not.
User Research
From 3 of our interviews and a survey with 70 returned results, we gained insights:
1) Dressing advice is needed for special occasions such as a wedding
2) Feedback is needed to confirm if a specific item will look good on them.
3) Most people would not be comfortable uploading their outfit to get comments.
4) Ways to keep track of clothes they think of buying: bookmark items online, circle items in the clothes catalog or keep a written list.

Iterations
In order to explore various concepts, 4 of us drew sketches separately. Our sketches helped us compare various layouts to come up with a more optimal one to use in our lo-fi prototype.
This was my first attempt to sketch a clothing recommender system. Map was used because people dress differently in different regions and weathers.
Except for map view, I attempted to use treemap not only to enhance the interactive experience, but also to give users a useful tool for exploring new items.
After our first attempt, necessary functions were mapped out. Insights from research were also applied. We then gave birth to our lo-fi wireframes, used to assure user feedback were firmly incorporated into our interface.
A fully-functional SuitUp
SuitUp was then built as a proof-of-concept fashion recommender and social networking system. Wardrobe experience becomes fun and easy with SuitUp. Clothes from anywhere on the web can be bookmarked into SuitUp to keep track of personal item wishlist. Items can be shared, rated and recommended by people you trust or with similar tastes. System generates recommendations not only based on demographic information, such as gender, age, body type, but also on personal preferences gathered via a fun game Hot or Not.
