Mapping of Extracted Design

The original drawing of my character's body and dress (Queen Victoria). My chosen piece was a merger of Queen Victoria with Hel (a Norse Goddess) which I decided to showcase through a typically ornamented Victorian mourning dress paired with the flesh of Hel. I took a very impressionistic approach, as opposed to realism for added effect.
The developments for the final piece; I drew various drawings of different, yet typical styles and variations of Victorian Ornamentation while also exploring the variety and styles of flesh.
The final design was constructed and put together in Illustrator. Through the help of the brush tool and varying charcoal style brushes, I developed a vector based drawing of the flesh, to stray away from the typical Victorian aspects found in the dress- and hence created something completely new and different using the flesh and bones, and the images are listed in accordance to the steps it took.
The original picture used for mapping of the final design.
Final mapped design; a flesh and bones inspired piece, using black and white, impressionistic-esqe lines and strokes

All of this is based on a project surrounding the mapping of a product; which started from our final, rendered piece which we did based on Victoria, the movie, in a separate subject (Design Studio I). My piece was the 'body' of Queen Victoria, merged with Hel (a norse mythology goddess), of which I took inspiration from the flesh and bones to create the ultimate piece for mapping. We first digitized the drawing (only the area we wanted to use, in my case), and then extracting certain elements from within to create a different arrangement, of sorts (adobe illustrator was used till this step; tracing using a brush tool, and making the arrangement through re-sizing, reflecting, rotating tools and more). Everything shown above reflects the process to get to the end result: the mapped product. I used photoshop to achieve my desired result (mapping the final design onto a dress, taken from the internet).
