Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship - Concept

Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship
The BTCC is back for 2019 this weekend (6th -7th April) with a season kick off at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit.

To mark the occasion, which I will be attending, I wanted to review with BTCC website to play with design in motorsport. The BTCC is the top level of British Motorsport on circuit and I feel the website does not live up to the class of teams and drivers within the championship which boasts production teams from BMW and Toyota.
Considerations
I don't usually like to start with the index page on projects or design blind without any user research but as this was purely done to play in Sketch around content I am enthused about I am giving myself a free pass.

I have only had time to play with the index page but my thought process was:

- Easily notify audiences of the next event
- Show the locations of the event
- Show the audience the current standings for drivers and teams to show the championship is live
- Make sure news is prominent to engage the different audiences
- Create a simple call to action that helps with user retention (calendar notifications) and drive revenue and traffic
- Show the wider calendar and different circuits the championship visits
- Create ownership of the website by Kwik Fit BTCC with a newly polished design
- Simplified IA in the Primary Navigation to for easier user journeys
Next
I will look to update the project and push the design further with additional pages and roles in the near future:

- Race day updates
- Off season landing content
