Cranberry Bog & Podmore Woods

Cranberry Bog & Podmore Woods

I was a bit late for the bluebells at Calke Abbey, but got chance to go to Podmore Woods in Halmer End which had a lovely Woodpecker Walk.  The other shots in this post are from Cranberry Bog / Black Firs which is “one of a series of nationally important Peatland sites that have developed in natural depressions, caused by ice-sheets which covered parts of Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire some 15,000 years ago”
It is great to get out and make the most of your local area- I found a footpath that is 3 minutes from my house that I had never walked before... which was also useful for getting my son away from his xbox for a while.  I suggested we spend the Easter fortnight without Fortnite- that idea didnt go down too well. I love the shot of my son below- he deliberately turned his old minecraft t-shirt inside out- as he is too ashamed to be seen out in it :-(
I don`t know whose glasses these were, we found them nestled under a tree.
