NYUAD’s Center for Science and Engineering, a retrofitted lab building in the industrial district of Abu Dhabi, lacked any kind of visual identity that marked it as part of the university until a few other students and I were challenged to design some simple environmental graphics that would be consistent with the university brand and could be quickly implemented. We wanted to reflect our passion for science and refer to the research being done by our professors, and designed banners and wall hangings. Phase I was implemented in time for a new lab opening, and the subsequent phases will be more permanent and detailed as we try to transform the CSE into a space for inspiration.
